Description
Join in the hunt for mini beasts in your local environment. A great activity that can be done in your school grounds, or in a learners’ back garden or street with their parents.
Create a tally chart of the pictured mini beasts you spot on your hunt. The activity provides lots of opportunities for talk using different language functions – identifying, describing, comparing, classifying, predicting etc. Children learn to recognise and name common mini beasts.
There is a substitution table to encourage learners to record some of their findings. Examples of sentences are given, to help parents if the activity is sent home.
