Description

Getting learners who are in the early stages of developing English to talk can sometimes be challenging. Barrier games, (or information gap activities as they are also called) are brilliant for encouraging this.

Our Flowers Barrier Game has pictures of common flowers found in the UK. Some of them will be familiar to your learners, others may not. There are two photos representing similar type of flowers. This means that learners have to draw on their language reserves to describe the pictures accurately so that their partner knows which picture they are talking about. The flowers are labelled, which makes the game easier if learners can read. However, you can make the activity harder by insisting that they can only name the flower as a last resort!
