Animal Bingo – Picture to Word Match

Learners will love this bingo game with its beautiful animal images.  Not only will it help them to recognise some common domesticated animals, it will also help them to recognise and read their written names.  Activity includes four picture game boards and matching word cards.

Us the activity as an opportunity to explores phonemes and graphemes. Practice word building skills too. You can also introduce different elements of grammar – using plurals, for example, or simple quantifiers.

Talk to the children about their experiences of animals. Many will have stories to relate – some about pets left behind in other countries; others with stories of new animals in their lives.
