I started REAL Learners because I want to help pupils learn English quickly.
This includes beginners of English through to children who are advanced bilingual learners.

About Real Learners

I started REAL Learners because I want to help pupils learning English as an Additional Language (EAL).  This includes beginners of English through to children who are advanced bilingual learners. I also want to support teachers too. I know from over 30 years’ teaching experience how hard it can be to include pupils in mainstream lessons when they have limited or no English. Our resources are all designed with learners of EAL in mind.

If you need support with learners who are new to English, invest in our Guided Language Activities programme. The programme is adult led, giving children a good English-speaking role model, with a range of planned, fully resourced activities that can be dipped in and out of during the school day.  Teachers can also adapt its tried and tested ideas to suit any mainstream topics and create an inclusive environment for some of their most vulnerable learners.

I want children to feel safe and secure when they arrive in school and to enjoy their language learning. In addition, I want teachers to feel confident and enjoying teaching them too! This means acknowledging pupils’ bilingual or multilingual skills and using this wealth of linguistic knowledge to help children understand the world around them. Therefore, our resources include bilingual reading diaries to help parents with their children’s reading, survival keyrings to help communication in the early days, and bilingual reward stickers.

In addition, our site now offers a wider range of downloadable resources, designed with EAL learners in mind. Some are free; all we ask is that you sign up for our Free Membership which allows you to access five resources per week. If you want more, then our VIP Membership will allow you to access all the resources.  You’ll be able to use them for individual or group tutoring session, to work on a specific area of grammar for example, or you can download groups of activities to create your own mini intervention for learners struggling with similar aspects of English.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or queries. I will be delighted to help.
